Nemalux AR – HAZ Series

Nemalux AR Series, Nemalux’s AR is an LED luminaire designed for applications requiring a high lumen output system capable of withstanding exposure to highly contaminated environments and rigorous cleaning routines with corrosive chemicals. Nemalux’s AR is an LED luminaire designed for applications requiring a high lumen output system capable of withstanding exposure to highly contaminated environments and rigorous cleaning routines with corrosive chemicals.

ARs are factory programmed to offer light outputs ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 lumen for hazardous as well as up to 48,000 lumens in general location applications. The power input allows operation on 120-277 VAC or 347-480 VAC. Optional 0-10V dimming provides further opportunities for fine-tuned illumination results based on facility and operator preference.

Rated for hazardous (see certifications), general, marine (UL1598A), and food safe locations use, the AR series is a versatile luminaire for wide-ranging industrial and outdoor applications. Marine-grade aluminum alloy housing with a polycarbonate lens form the external components of the AR case. Ingress Protection levels of IP66 / 67 enable high-pressure washdowns while the use of a pressure equalization membrane allows for dramatic altitude and humidity changes without stressing electronic components. A multilayer anti-graffiti powder coat prevents degradation of the alloy while allowing deployment in corrosive, outdoor, and indoor locations.

Nemalux AR Series Description

Listed by NSF as meeting all requirements for food-safe uses according to NSF-2, Food Equipment standard, the AR has been successfully implemented in many food processing facilities. This includes an assessment of the construction to ensure that there are no pooling points or other locations that will lead to excessive bacterial build-up or fouling.

Considerations have been given to minimum slope to all surfaces for quick drainage during cleaning and ensuring that there are no tight corners that will hold onto water. With a sloped design that has no sharp corners, any liquids that drip onto the fixture or spray from cleaning drains off quickly and the fixture rapidly dries off preventing excessive bacterial growth. Because the luminaires are hotter than the environment, condensation forming on the luminaire itself is not a concern.

The AR also uses an anti-fouling coating that supports the prevention of contaminants from adhering to the aluminum housing. Using a low surface energy coating that was designed to reduce the ability of spray paints to stick and withstand regular cleaning with a range of aggressive cleaning chemicals.

The AR has increased fin spacing that promotes debris shedding as well as optimized airflow to maintain low operating temperatures for the internal power supplies and LEDs.

An impact-resistant polycarbonate lens provides maximum protection for LEDs and light engines. Ultra-efficient secondary optics result in high lumen per watt ratios and select models qualify for DLC. Advanced manufacturing processes result in textured lenses for all AR models, significantly improving the visual comfort of facility operators and reducing the potential for glare.

Perimeter bands surround all light-emitting surfaces to provide a full cut-off feature, enabling the use of the AR in sensitive environments requiring dark sky (IDA) listed luminaires.

Secondary optics provide a wide range of optical profiles to increase light fixture spacing and reduce the number of ARs required to achieve target illumination levels. A wide range of project implementations has shown the potential to reduce the number of lights required for a project by up to 25% when compared to hazardous and industrial-grade LED lights from most competitors.

Solder-free component replacements are possible with the AR at the end of life to allow the continued use of the luminaire by simply replacing power supplies and LED light engines / MCPCBs.

Two entry locations in ¾” NPT provide additional wiring flexibility.
