EGE SC 440 Thermodynamic Flow Sensor

Description

EGE SC 440 Thermodynamic Flow Sensor is a liquid flow controller which operates on the thermodynamic principle available with a ¼” or ½” BSP or ½” NPT connection. When used with water the SC440 flow switch has a detection range of 1 to 150 centimeters per second (cm/s), when used with oils this is 3 to 300 cm/s. SC440 liquid flow controllers have typical start-up times of 2 to 15 seconds and a reaction time of 1 to 13 seconds.

Maximum pressure ratings are up to 100 bar. The current flow rate of the process can be seen on the local LED array on the airflow controller. The power supply is 24 VDC and every SC440 flow controller has IP67 protection class and is housed all in stainless steel. Various sensor lengths are available and the electrical connection is via an M12 connector.

The Functions of EGE SC 440 Thermodynamic Flow Sensor

The function of the flow controller is based on the thermodynamic principle. The sensor is heated internally at a few degrees C compared to the medium into which it projects. When the medium flows, the heat generated in the sensor is conducted away by the medium, i. e. the sensor cools down. The temperature within the sensor is measured and compared to the temperature of the medium. The state of flow can be derived for each medium by the temperature difference attained.
