Hengstler ICURO RX71 Incremental Encoder

Description

Hengstler ICURO RX71 Incremental Encoders with stainless steel housing have been designed specifically for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. The pressure-resistant housing has been developed in compliance with the EN 60079 series of standards for use in explosive atmospheres and is permitted for use in environments where there is a risk of gas or dust explosion, zones 1 and 21.

The incremental shaft encoder is available in an explosion-proof design with an explosion-proof enclosure under RX70 and RX71(stainless steel). The PTB has assured with the EC-TYPE-Examination Certificate PTB 10 ATEX 1036 X that the RX70/71 meets the requirements of safety and health according to EN 60079-0:2009; EN 60079-1:2007; EN 60079-31:2009. Therefore it is approved in explosive areas, code:

  • “Ex II 2 G Ex d IIC T6 Gb and Ex II 2 D Ex tb IIIC T85°C Db IP6X” and
  • “Ex II 2 G Ex d IIC T4 Gb and Ex II 2 D Ex tb IIIC T135°C Db IP6X”

Additionally, the encoder is certified according to the IECEx standards IEC 60079-0:2007-10; IEC 60079-1:2007-04; IEC 60079-31:2008. Assured according to IECEx PTB 12.0002X certification. For applications under tough environmental conditions and the food industry, the stainless steel version RX71 is available.

Hengstler is a leading European manufacturer of industrial components for counting and control applications, such as counters/timers, rotary encoders, industrial and temperature controllers, relays, and printers and cutters.

Today’s automation leaders are seeking solutions that will enable machines with advanced analytics, condition monitoring and predictive maintenance, while also offering improved efficiency, and fast time to market. None of these alone are easy challenges. However, your competitors are launching new solutions at an increasing rate meant to meet these challenges.

Hengstler has created SCS Open Link, an open communication platform that provides high-performance data transmission over a cost-effective single cable solution, designed to quickly and efficiently connect rotary encoders and other sensors to edge computing and Industry 4.0 solutions.

From cost-aware standard types to extremely robust heavy-duty products, HENGSTLER can supply the right incremental rotary encoder for every application. With optical incremental rotary encoders, a line-coded disc made of metal, plastic or glass and mounted on a rotary bearing interrupts a beam of light from a light-emitting diode.

The number of lines determines the resolution, i.e. the number of measured points in one revolution. The interruptions of the light beam are sensed by the receptor element and electronically processed. The information is then made available as a rectangular signal at the encoder output. HENGSTLER can provide rotary encoders with up to 10,000 pulses per revolution.
