Macnaught Type ERB-PM Digital Display Flow Meter is a fully programmable 17mm LCD Digital Register displaying Flow Rate, Accumulated (Non-resettable) and Batch (Resettable) Totals. The output options available include 4-20mA and scaled pulse output. Rated at IP67, the robust Aluminum housing makes the Type ERB-PM Digital Display Flow Meter suitable for both indoor and outdoor use in heavy duty industrial applications. The Type ERB-PM Digital Display Flow Meter is also available in both Meter Mount (Aluminum) and Remote Mount (Aluminum or plastic) versions.

Functions and features

The batch controller model ERB is a microprocessor driven instrument designed for batching and filling of small batch sizes up to medium large quantities as well as displaying total and accumulated total.

This product has been designed with a focus on:

ultra-low power consumption to allow long-life battery powered applications (type PB / PC),
intrinsic safety for use in hazardous applications (type XI),
several mounting possibilities with GRP or aluminum enclosures for industrial surroundings,
ability to process all types of flowmeter signals,
one control output for controlling a pump or valve.

Flowmeter input

This manual describes the unit with a pulse type input from the flowmeter “-P version”. One flowmeter with a passive NPN or Reed switch signal output can be connected to the ERB.

Configuration of the unit

The ERB has been designed to be implemented in many types of applications. For that reason, a SETUP-level is available to configure your ERB according to your specific requirements. It includes several important features, such as K-factors, measurement units, signal selection etc. All setting are stored in EEPROM memory and will not be lost in the event of power failure. To extend the battery-life time, please use the power-management functions as described in chapter 3.2.3.

Display information

The unit has a large transflective LCD with all kinds of symbols and digits to display measuring units, status information, count up or count down and key-word messages. A backup of the total and accumulated total in EEPROM memory is made every minute.

Options

The following options are available: panel-mount, wall-mount, meter mount, weather-proof enclosures and LED backlight.

Description

sitive Displacement Flow Meters are suitable for a wide range of industrial applications including fuel and oil distribution, corrosive chemical, solvent measurement and high pressure applications to name a few. Macnaught offers Positive Displacement Flow Meters featuring Oval Gear technology.

The measuring principle includes two high precision toothed oval gears, which are driven by the flow of the medium and mesh with each other: in presence of a flow, defined volumes of fluid are transported through the meter for each rotation of oval gears pair. As the flow rate increases, so does the rotational speed of the rotors. The number of gear rotations is a measure of the amount of fluid that has passed through the meter; each rotation is detected by a sensor and the volume is calculated using a conversion factor (K factor).

INFORMATION AND FUNCTIONS

In general, the ERB will always act at Operator level. The information displayed is dependent upon the SETUP-settings. All pulses generated by the connected flowmeter are measured by the ERB in the background, whichever screen refresh rate setting is chosen. After pressing a key, the display will be updated very quickly during a 30 second period, after which it will slow-down again.

The Macnaught ERB is a meter mounted digital register with a 17mm LC Display shown here mounted to the MX Flow Meter, specifically designed for Batching application. The output facilities include a 4-20mA (passive) and scaled pulse output. The Aluminium housing is rated to IP67 and has a max temperature rating of 80 Deg C. It suits all MX flow meter models.
