The ISOIL meter design is just perfect for use within the aviation industry. Full material compatibility, surface treatment, and extended flow rate range make the ISOIL meters ideal for use in refueling vehicles (aircraft refuellers and hydrant dispensers), small airplane and helicopter refueling modules, etc.

Double Case Meters (3’’ – 10’’)

The double case design is based on an outer body completely surrounding the internal body (measuring chamber). The outer body bares the entire pressure difference between the liquid pressure and the ambient pressure, while the internal body – i.e. the measuring chamber – undergoes a negligible pressure difference. Thanks to this design the meter is almost immune to the effects of pressure variations on the shape of the measuring chamber, and consequently the meter accuracy and repeatability is not affected by the line pressure.

When there is no pump and the liquid flows by gravity (when emptying a tank truck in a gas station, for example), ISOIL has the right solution for the flow measurement.

The gravity meters range:

  • grants very small pressure drop, to work under a limited inlet pressure
  • handle the air slugs or the air in general which typically are involved in the unloading operations

When you need flexibility as the delivery may take either by gravity or by pump (typically onto tank trucks), ISOIL can offer a flexible and reliable solution:

  • very small pressure drop, making the meter able to operate also under a limited inlet pressure
  • designed to work also at higher line pressure, so also in combination with a pump
  • handle the air slugs or the air in general which typically are involved in the unloading operations

Within the automation system of loading, unloading, and transfer operations, it is required to have a valve that, controlled by an electronic counter or by an external control system, is able to manage the delivery flow rate and the quantity of transferred liquid. For this specific application, ISOIL diaphragm valves are particularly useful, as the power required to change state operation comes from the line pressure, therefore they do not require the presence of electrical or pneumatic actuators.

To protect the measuring instruments, and in particular the PD meters, thus extending their life cycle and reducing maintenance needs, it is important to ensure that there are no solids suspended in the liquid through appropriate filtration.ISOIL offers a comprehensive range of basket and Y strainers, which meet these needs and ensure straightforward operation. In order to ensure accuracy in measurement, it is also important to remove any air bubbles present in the liquid before it enters the meter, thus preventing air from being measured. ISOIL offers a comprehensive line of gas separators, either stand-alone or in combination with strainers, to meet these needs.

The electronic counter plays a key role in both measuring and automation of loading procedures.

From a metrological point of view, in combination with the flow rate meter (PD, mass, turbine, etc.) the electronic counter can provide, depending on the version, either on the user display or to remote devices through the communication ports:

  • the measurement, in the desired unit of measure
  • the temperature compensated volume (typically 15°C)
  • the pressure compensated volume
  • the flow rate
  • the average flow rate
  • the average loading temperature
  • ticket printing
  • etc.
