Description Of Siko GP43 Geared Potentiometer

In analog measuring applications that require high-quality industrial measurement outputs, potentiometric rotation angle transducers—like the Siko GP43 Geared Potentiometer—are becoming increasingly important due to their remarkable cost-benefit ratio.
A Design and functionality of geared potentiometers
A geared potentiometer is composed of two main elements. One is used for measuring and has precision gear wheels. The other piece is an electric resistor, which may be rotated to alter its resistance value. At the works, the potentiometer and gear unit are built with the least amount of backlash. Multi-coil potentiometers use an integrated slip clutch to prevent the mechanical stops from overrunning. A geared potentiometer thus produces an ohmic output signal proportional to the number of spins.
Features
- Solid shaft Ø 6 mm
- Adaptation to various measurement distances owing to a wide range of gear ratios
- Integrated slip clutch to protect the potentiometer
- Compact design
- Potentiometer or power output
- IP65 protection class
- Up to 3 cam-operated switch outputs, freely adjustable
Applications
Siko incremental rotary encoders are better suited for applications involving shocks or vibrations as well as infinite rotational applications, such as rotation measurement or non-contacting measuring assignments.
