Description Of Piston Wellpoint Dewatering Pumps
Thompson’s piston wellpoint dewatering pump is highly efficient. It produces a pulsating vacuum that prevents clogging, requires only a single-cylinder engine and does not contain any vacuum pumps or associated oiling systems typically required in other wellpoint pumps.

The self-priming, double-acting design has an efficiency rating of over 90%, which allows for low motor capacity. The unit is extremely cost-effective to operate and can run for more than one week on a single tank of fuel.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
The double-acting piston pumps convert rotational energy applied to the pulley to linear motion to a set of pistons by two conically milled gears mounted on either side of the crankshaft. A vacuum is created inside the cylinders from the motion of the pistons. On the piston upstroke, water is drawn into the cylinder as the suction valve opens and the delivery valve closes allowing the water to be drawn into the cylinder. On the down stroke, the force of the piston causes the suction valve to close and the delivery valve to open, forcing the water out through the discharge.
Feature of Piston Wellpoint Dewatering Pumps Thomson Pumps
- Optimal dewatering efficiency: A unique design that allows for steady flow even in situations with strong suction lift for shallow well dewatering.
- Rugged Piston Technology: Guarantees dependable and steady pump performance, especially for fluids containing tiny particles.
- Heavy-Duty Design: Constructed from premium materials like cast iron or stainless steel for resistance to wear and corrosion.
- Dry Running Capability: Able to function normally even in the event that the liquid temporarily stops flowing (dry running).
- Simple repair: Key components are easily accessible using a modular structure, enabling regular inspection and repair.
- High portability: outfitted with wheels or a trailer for convenient movement around the workspace.
- Fuel Efficiency: Long-term, low-emission diesel motor that uses less energy.
- Ignores Extreme Conditions: Capable of functioning in conditions characterized by excessive humidity, extremely high temperatures, or water mixed with abrasive materials.
Application of Piston Wellpoint Dewatering Pumps Thomson Pumps
- Construction and Infrastructure: Draining of project sites such as foundation excavations, tunnels and trenches.
- Mining: Groundwater management in open-pit or underground mines to improve the efficiency of mining operations.
- Flood Management: A quick solution to dewatering flooded or waterlogged areas at project sites.
- Irrigation and Agriculture: Draining agricultural land prior to tillage or planting.
- Groundwater Management: Suitable for projects that require precise groundwater control.
