Description
Mounted bearings and housings with rolling bearings support a rotating shaft, which can be bolted on a machine frame or any other substructure. There is no need to precisely machine a bearing housing in a surrounding casing. This makes these solutions cost-efficient and easy to use, while providing full rolling bearing performance.
Ball Bearings Units

Because of their versatility and cost-effectiveness, ball bearing units are used in many industrial applications. Ball bearing units consist of an insert bearing mounted in a housing. An insert bearing is a deep groove ball bearing with a sphered (convex) outside surface and an extended inner ring that includes a mechanism to lock the unit onto the shaft. The housings have a correspondingly sphered but concave bore.
The SKF assortment offers a wide variety of units with different housing shapes, bearings, seals and locking methods. It includes units to ISO standards, North American standards, and Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS). Ball bearing units can accommodate moderate initial misalignment, but normally do not permit axial displacement.
Product types:
- Pillow Block Ball Berings Units
- Flanged Units
- Take-up Units
Features and benefits:
- Ready to mount
- Lubricated and sealed bearings
- Quick locking on the shaft
- Large variety in housing shapes, housing materials, and locking methods
- Concentric locking options for high speeds and low vibration
Roller Bearings Units

Because of their versatility and cost-effectiveness, roller bearing units are used in many industrial applications. SKF roller bearing units are robust, ready-to-mount units that are assembled, lubricated and sealed at the factory for maximum service life. They consist of a housing, a spherical roller bearing, seals and a lubricant. Due to their simple and safe installation and easy alignment, they are an excellent alternative to sleeve-mounted bearings in split housings.
The SKF assortment includes units of several housing designs, using SKF ConCentra or set screw locking methods, in both metric and imperial dimensions.
Product types:
- Pillow Block Ball Berings Units
- Flanged Units
- Take-up Units
- End Covers
Features and benefits:
- Ready to mount
- Factory lubricated and sealed
- Quick mounting on the support surface, quick locking on the shaft
- Long service life with minimal or no maintenance
- Variety of housing shapes, housing materials and locking methods

SKF Cooper Split Bearing Units

SKF Cooper split bearing units are the ideal solution to reduce machinery maintenance and repair downtime. The advantages of the SKF Cooper split bearing solution are especially valuable in inaccessible or trapped locations, for example, between head pulley and gearbox or motor, where the need to dismount associated equipment is eliminated.
Split bearing units can be disassembled into smaller components, easing the tasks of lifting and handling and making mounting or replacement simple even in the most cramped and inaccessible conditions. Clearances are pre-set, so there is no requirement for any on-site adjustments or specialized fitting tools.
