Centrifeeder VIB: Integrated Vibratory Control
The CentriFeeder line of feeders provides accurate, real-time flow measurement, as well as near perfect control of flow rate and total. For blending applications, control the flow rate of an individual ingredient, or combine several CentriFeeders for near perfect recipe control. If you are controlling ingredients entering a batching process, use the CentriFeeder for controlling the total of one or more ingredients entered into the batch.

The CentriFeeder with Integrated Vibratory Control accurately measures and controls the flow of any dry, free-flowing solid that can be transported via a vibratory conveyor. Through the use of a highly customizable touch screen HMI, a PID control loop is established that regulates the vibratory conveyor feeding our patented CentriFlow Meter. The outcome is an accurate, easily maintained, consistent flow that can be used for mixing, ratio control, or even recipe based blending.
The CentriFeeder VIB works by integrating the conveying abilities of a vibratory conveyor with the supreme measurement power of a CentriFlow Mass Flow Meter. Product is fed into the hopper which sits above the vibratory conveyor. This product can be fed continuously or in shorter increments for batching. The product feeds down through the vibratory conveyor and finally, down through the CentriFlow Meter which is positioned directly after the vibratory conveyor. As product passes through the CentriFlow Meter, both the flow rate and total are measured.
This data is used by the CentriFeeder VIB’s electronics which creates a PID control loop by using the flow rate and totalization information to control the speed of the vibratory conveyor. Again, the vibratory conveyor can be used to both control the flow rate and to control based on total. If a totalization set point is entered into the electronics, the vibratory conveyor will be told to shut off after the set point has been reached. The result is extremely accurate control of flow rate (for continuous operations) and total (for batching operations) for any product that can be conveyed via a vibratory conveyor.
Centrifeeder ICV : Integrated Control Valve
The CentriFeeder line of feeders provides accurate, real-time flow measurement, as well as near perfect control of flow rate and total. For blending applications, control the flow rate of an individual ingredient, or combine several CentriFeeders for near perfect recipe control. If you are controlling ingredients entering a batching process, use the CentriFeeder for controlling the total of one or more ingredients entered into the batch. Please see below for additional information regarding the use of the CentriFeeder ICV as a filling station for filling bags, boxes, bulk bags or Gaylord containers. The CentriFeeder with ICV, when used for filling, is called the CentriFill. The CentriFill can be used as a manual filling station or as an automatic filler that fills passing containers.

The blade’s movement can then be monitored via the CentriView Electronics, or read manually via the mechanical indicator on the exterior of the valve. For delicate products, the CentriFeeder with ICV is equipped with a Virtual Flow Stop function which stops flow with virtually no damage to your product. The outcome is an easily maintained, consistent flow that can, under some conditions, be controlled over a 100:1 range for both batching and ratio?control applications.
The CentriFeeder ICV can be used for filling as well as flow control. The CentriFill, as the CentriFeeder is known when configured in filling mode, contains a special build of software and special screens that graphically display the filling features of the CentriFeeder ICV. The CentriFill can also be equipped with a range of options including a foot pedal for manual filling initiation.

VAP VELOCITY AVERAGING PITOT TUBE
VAP Pitots have a unique Velocity Averaging and Parallel Plate proprietary design. When inserted in air flow ducts, the VAP Pitots provide an accurate, differential pressure output allowing for precise air flow measurement or control of your process. VAP Pitots are designed for Superior Accuracy (SA) for clean air applications or plug resistant (PA) for heavy particulate-laden applications. The VAP Pitots can be installed in existing or new ducts or incorporated into flow-conditioning devices, such as the High Beta, designed for short duct run applications with turbulent air flow or to obtain optimal accuracy. The VAP Pitot can be manufactured out of Anodized Aluminum, Stainless Steel or PVC for accuracy in nearly any application.
VAP PITOTS FOR ANY INSTALLATION
- VAP INSTALLATIONS IN ROUND DUCTS
- VAP Insertion Style pitots can be used in either round ducts or in square / rectangular ducts. When used in round ducts, the insertion ports are typically beveled to fit the curved exterior of the duct wall. The standard profile of pitot is used in any duct with a diameter of 72″ or smaller. For larger ducts, the VAP-XL pitot can be used. VAP pitots are perfect for clean air or for air with particulate.
- VAP INSTALLATIONS IN RECTANGULAR DUCTS
- The VAP Pitot can also be utilized in Square / Rectangular duct work. The pitots’ insertion ports are mounted to the exterior of the duct and the pitots are then bolted to the insertion ports. The standard profile of pitot is used for installations where the short side of the duct is 72″ or smaller. For larger ducts, the VAP-XL can be used.
DSV – DUCT SECTION VAP
Eastern Instruments’ DSV – Duct Section VAP retains all of the air flow measurement features and capabilities of the VAP Pitot, while offering the additional feature of being exceedingly easy to order and install. The DSV is a round, spooled section of duct that contains an array of VAP Pitots along with straightening vanes that help channel air flow through the flow measurement section of the DSV. Like stand-alone VAP Pitot arrays, the DSV can be installed into new or existing ducts for both clean air applications and for particulate-laden applications. Each pitot contained within the DSV has multiple total and static sensing ports that are specifically located in order to provide a full traverse of the duct, thus eliminating the concern of measurement error due to highly random distributions of air. Its use of VAP3® Pitot technology ensures that the DSV is an extremely accurate and convenient method of measuring air flow.
Whether installed in round ducts or rectangular ducts, the DSV consists of an array of pitots that is pre-mounted into a section of duct. The duct section typically contains flanges for easy installation and features straightening vanes which will assist in eliminating the effects of swirl on the flow measurement. The integral pitot array is tubed together and offers a single High and a single Low port that will tube to the QVT transmitter as well as any other model DP or Multivariable Transmitter.
DSV CONFIGURATIONS
- DSV – ROUND DUCTS
- The Round DSV comes in standard sizes ranging from 4″ up to 36″ in diameter and is offered in a variety of materials and pressure ratings that can accommodate even the most hostile air flow measurement environments. The DSV is also equipped with flanges on either side of the spooled duct section, allowing for easy installation upon arrival at your site. Most importantly, however, is the off-the-shelf design of the DSV that allows for minimal lead times from order to installation. The DSV can be used for either clean air or for particulate-laden air applications. The measurement pitots can be manufactured out of either Anodized Aluminum or Stainless Steel.
- DSV – RECTANGULAR DUCTS
- The Square or Rectangular DSV can be manufactured in a variety of sizes to fit nearly any duct size and is offered in a variety of materials and pressure ratings that can accommodate even the most hostile air flow measurement environments. The DSV is also equipped with flanges on either side of the duct section, thus allowing for easy installation upon arrival at your site. The DSV can be used for either clean air or for particulate-laden air applications and the measurement probes can be manufactured out of Anodized Aluminum or Stainless Steel.
HBP – HIGH BETA PROCESS (INDUSTRIAL)
Air flow measurement is most accurate in straight duct runs where air flow can be evenly profiled across the duct at the point of measurement and where no turbulent, reverse, or cyclonic flow patterns are present. Typically, it can take as much as 10 diameters of straight duct run to eliminate turbulent or reverse flow, while it can take as much as 30 diameters of straight duct run to eliminate cyclonic flow. If you do not have the proper amount of straight duct run present to accurately measure your air flow, some type of flow conditioner is required.
The HBP – High Beta Process Flow Conditioner is ideally designed for industrial process applications where the expansive straight duct runs needed for accurate flow measurement are not present. Perfect for new or for retrofit applications, the HBP is designed for installations with relatively no straight duct runs upstream or downstream and eliminates cyclonic, turbulent and reverse flow at the point of measurement. The HBP consists of a flanged spool section, a converging duct section, a set of straightening vanes and an array of VAP Pitots. The HBP ensures an accurate differential pressure output that provides precise air flow measurement for tighter control of your process.

QVT DP AND MULTIVARIABLE SMART TRANSMITTER
The QVT from Eastern Instruments is available in the SV (Single Variable) or MV (Multivariable) mode and has been optimized for the extremely accurate flow measurement of air and gas at or near atmospheric pressure (5 – 25 psia). Allowing for the measurement of up to four separate process variables including Differential Pressure, Temperature and Absolute Pressure, the QVT will calculate the fully compensated mass flow of air or gas in nearly any duct. When coupled with any Differential Pressure based flow element, the QVT ensures extremely accurate flow measurement down to +/-0.50% of Reading over 100:1 range of DP and 10:1 flow turndown.
The QVT can be configured as either a multivariable transmitter or as a single variable transmitter, measuring DP (Differential Pressure). The various configurations are listed below.
- SV: SINGLE VARIABLE DP TRANSMITTER
- The QVT can be utilized as a single variable Differential Pressure (DP) Transmitter that will accurately measure the differential pressure of flow across an accompanying flow element. The flow element can either be an EI manufactured flow element or an existing flow element by a manufacturer of choice. The QVT single variable transmitter is configured to output a 4-20 mA signal that is equivalent to the DP.
- SV: MASS FLOW DP TRANSMITTER
- The QVT can also be used to accurately measure flow. If both Temperature and Absolute pressure are relatively constant, the QVT can calculate mass flow based on a measured DP and an input or constant value for temperature and absolute pressure. The QVT DP Flow Transmitter can be extremely accurate as long as temperature and Absolute pressure remain constant. The QVT MF – DP Transmitter is configured to output a 4-20 mA signal that is equivalent to the flow through a duct.
- MF: MASS FLOW MULTIVARIABLE TRANSMITTER
- The QVT is at its most accurate as a multivariable transmitter where it can measure up to four unique process variables including Differential Pressure, Process Temperature and Absolute Pressure. The QVT will remain extremely accurate regardless of the changes in process temperature or Absolute Pressure. The QVT then calculates mass flow based on these measured variables. The QVT MF – Multivariable Transmitter is configured to output a 4-20 mA signal that is equivalent to the fully compensated mass flow of air flowing through a duct.
