The Short History Klay Instruments

Klay Instruments was founded in 1978 starting with developping and manufacturing pneumatic instruments. The electronical instruments came rather quickly after the start of the company. The first location was in Hoogersmilde. In 1993 the company moved to the present location in Dwingeloo. This building has been extended in 2006.

Differential pressure measurement on gasses, steam and liquids in all industries. Level measurement in closed tanks. For this the internal tank linearisation can be used. The DP-4000 can also be supplied with chemical seals. Square root function on board for flow measurement.

Level Transmitters

Non hygienic level measurement of liquids where a flush diaphragm is needed. Examples are water, wastewater and oil. Because of the flush diaphragm very suitable for liquids which can cause clogging like pulp, paper and starch. For the pulp and paper industry specific process connections are available.

Submersible Level Transmitter

Level measurement of drinking water, surface water, wastewater and sludge. Often used by water boards and water works. Various industrial applications like level measurement in storage tanks. Level measurement of ballast water, drinking water and oil on ships.

Level Switches

Maximum and minimum level detection of liquids in tanks. Minimum level detection in conduits as dry run protection of pumps.

Temperature Sensor

Temperature sensors for all industrial applications. Stainless steel housing with bajonet or screw cover. Various process connections, also hygienic connections. Production according to customer specifications.

Temperature Transmitter

All stainless steel microprocessor based temperature transmitter. Standard with display and push buttons for programming. Very suitable for an accurate temperature measurement.

Food Industry

Klay Instruments manufactures instruments with hygienic process connections specially for the food industry. More then 30 connections can be supplied including connections of other manufacturers. Several connections are certified according to the European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG) and the American hygienic standard 3-A.

All pressure and level transmitters have temperature compensation and are suitable for CIP and SIP cleaning. The transmitters have a strong flush mounted diaphragm. The level switches and temperature sensors can also be supplied with certified hygienic connections.

Pharmaceutical Industry

In the pharmaceutical industry sterility, safety and accuracy are important for the production of medicines. For this industry Klay Instruments manufactures all stainless transmitters with aseptic connections and polished wetted parts. Common used connections are Tri-clamp and Varivent. Several connection types are certified acording to the European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG) and the American sanitary standard 3-A.

Klay Instruments manufactures transmitters with an accuracy up to 0.075%. The high accuracy of the instruments is important for precise dosing. Pulp and Paper Industry

The compact and robust pressure and level transmitters of Klay Instruments are very suitable for applications in the pulp and paper industry. In these heavy conditions both the stainless steel housing and strong flush mounted diaphragm are an advantage.

The transmitters are mainly used for pressure and level measurement in the pulp preparation. All current process connections used in the paper industry are available. A very handy solution for this industry is a transmitter fitted in a valve. The instrument can be taken out of the valve during actual operation.

Water and Wastewater Industry

Water plays an important role in our lives. For level measurement in water, wastewater and sludge Klay Instruments produces submersible transmitters with cable or rod extension. These are available with a stainless steel diaphragm or ceramic measuring cell. The intelligent transmitters are having HART protocol as an option so the instrument is remote rangeable. For low energy applications with dataloggers a TTL output can be supplied.
