With so many models and options, we can find a solution for most applications, even the most demanding ones. Our team of expert engineers is always here for you to help you find your KOBOLD solution.

Flow Measurement

KOBOLD offers a variety of flow sensors that can directly determine the flow rate of a gas or a liquid. We also offer many models of flow transmitters that can both monitor and control flow. Depending on the application variables and media specifications, different flow meters or flow monitors can be used.

Kobold MIS Magnetic Flow Meter

KOBOLD offers a wide variety of high-quality flow meters, from simple paddle-type switches to high-precision Coriolis mass flow meters. We also offer a wide variety of instrumentation that is well-suited for handling viscous media, like oil. Some of our technologies for viscous media include oval gear flow meters, helical gear flow meters, and special variable area flow meters. These technologies are characterized by a long service life and high efficiency.

Monitoring of flow rate

Flow meters are used in many industrial branches, particularly in the area of automated production. Various flow sensors allow exact and precise control of the flow rates and they can act quickly and automatically. In this way, a distinction is made between purely reactive systems which trigger an action when a certain flow rate is reached and those systems which, as flow sensors, exclusively monitor and count the flow rate.

Both types of systems offer a large number of variations and options. Flow sensors can be equipped with a corresponding display in order to allow a reading of the flow rate directly. By means of a measuring transmitter, some of the flow meters can also be connected to central data systems via a BUS interface, which can access the data of the flowmeters. This ensures continuous monitoring of flow rates without any problems.

Industrial Application

KOBOLD flow instrumentation can be found providing dependable and lasting service in common application fields, such as irrigation, oil, and gas, automotive, power generation, general manufacturing, machining, cement/aggregates, chemicals, petrochemicals, test measurement, laboratories, research and development, aerospace, HVAC, water, wastewater, building automation, pulp and paper, metals, mining, surface treatment, semiconductors, pumping, agriculture, marine, aviation, boilers, brewing, refrigeration, turbines, utilities, and welding.

KOBOLD EPS Magnetic Flow Meter

The KOBOLD EPS magnetic inductive (electromagnetic) flow meter delivers accurate, pressure-drop-free, volumetric flow measurements of liquids, slurries, pastes, and other electrically conductive media. The measurement provided by this magmeter is unaffected by pressure, temperature, density, or viscosity. The EPS sensor is designed to be used with the KOBOLD UMF2 transmitter, which is available in a compact or a remote version.

Operation

An electrically conductive media flowing through a magnetic field, in accordance with Faraday’s law of induction, will induce a voltage proportional to the mean flow velocity rate and hence the volumetric flow. A magnetic inductive flowmeter consists of a lined flow body, through which a conductive liquid flows, a magnetic field coil and two electrodes. The electrode voltage is detected by a transmitter and converted into standardized electrical signals such as 4-20 mA or pulse output.

Kobold MIS Magnetic Flow Meter

The MIS electromagnetic flow meter, or magmeter, was developed for measuring and monitoring the medium-sized flow of conductive liquids in pipes. It offers 2 configurable outputs. It features monitoring, batching, and transmitter functions. The batching function has an external control input. There is both a grand and resettable totalizer. The colored, multi-parameter TFT display rotates in 90-degree increments for easy viewing, regardless of the installation position. The MIS also offers bi-directional measurement capabilities.

Kobold PIT  Insertion Magnetic Flow Meter

PIT insertion magnetic flow meter with no moving parts is designed to measure the flow velocity of conductive liquids in large-diameter pipes. The insertion-style design makes it potentially cost-effective versus large, inline magmeters from the standpoint of the purchase price as well as installation cost. This is because the insertion-type design requires just a single borehole in the side of the pipe instead of an entire pipe section, as is required to install inline-type electromagnetic flow meters.

Kobold PITE Insertion Magnetic Flow Meter

The PITe magnetic inductive flow meter offers a simple, compact design, is maintenance-free, and has almost no pressure drop. An electrically conductive media flowing through an orientated magnetic field, in accordance to Faraday’s law of induction, will induce a voltage proportional to the mean flow velocity rate and hence the volumetric flow.
