Hengstler ACURO AD58 Absolute Rotary Encoder

Hengstler ACURO AD58 Absolute Rotary Encoder is an optical encoder with a multi-turn gear and optical scanning. The mechanical concept is based on a shaft assembly mounted in dual ball-bearings with a flexible torque support. As a result, these encoders are suitable for incorporating in BLDC servo motors and such demanding applications as CNC, precision positioning and high-resolution printing. The encoder is available with resolutions of up to 22 bits single-turn and 12 bits multi-turn.

Fully digital control loop

The new and completely digital OptoAsic technology enables the transition to a truly digital drive system. The conventional absolute encoders still have analog sine wave signals for the feedback of speed and position data. The AD 58, however, provides fully digital position data up to 22 Bit (Single-turn) and 12 Bit (Multiturn) over the BiSS interface with a variable clock rate up to 10 MHz. This corresponds a single-turn resolution of more than 4 million measured steps.
