About Philmac Air Release Valves

Air release valves X-294, X-295, and X-380
The JIMTEN air release valve manages the air inside the pipelines, preventing damages caused by negative pressures or overpressures and guaranteeing optimal hydraulic performance.

Selection, Installation of Philmac Air Release Valves

  • When a pump stops or a valve is closed suddenly, a separation between the water column and the valve is generated, while still flows through the inertia of the pipeline, generating a vacuum area. The same phenomenon occurs when the pipe is drained.
  • When the pipes are filled up, air expulsion must be equal to an admission of water. If the air of the installation is not removed, the pipeline could collapse at the highest points, reduce the hydraulic capacity of filter elements, or cause problems of overpressure and cavitation.
  • If the pipe network suffers a breakdown, the water flow drained could be greater than air admitted into network, that’s why a protection element such as an air release valve correctly dimensioned should be installed.
  • Close to, pumping equipments, filtration equipments or fire hydrant, air bubbles are generated. This residual air must be evacuated by installing triple effect air release valves.

Working Principle of Philmac Air Release Valves

  • Expulsion
When the pipe is being filled up, the air release valve remains open expelling all the surplus air outside the installation. When the pipe is full of water the air release valve closes tightly.
  • Air Admission
During the emptying of pipelines, vacuum is generated by negative pressures. The air valve opens automatically to let atmospheric air go into the network, avoiding in this way potential damage of collapse in pipelines and accessories.
  • Expulsion of Residual Air
(Only model X-295). The air release valve purges constantly the residual air generated in the installation, by expelling it even when it is pressurized.

Feature of Philmac Air Release Valves

  • Wide Working Pressure Range: Operates effectively at pressures between 20 kPa to 1600 kPa, suitable for various pressure applications.
  • High Quality Materials: Made from advanced thermoplastic materials that are lightweight yet durable, with high resistance to corrosion and UV light.
  • Corrosion Resistant Design: Key components such as the body and piston are made from reinforced nylon, while the spring utilizes 316 stainless steel, ensuring corrosion resistance under various environmental conditions.
  • Easy Installation: Equipped with standard BSP threads, it allows easy installation on various piping systems without the need for special tools.

Application of Philmac Air Release Valves

  • Agriculture: Removing air from irrigation pipes to ensure even water distribution and prevent pipe damage due to air buildup.
