    • AutomationAutomation describes a wide range of technologies that reduce human intervention in processes. Human intervention is reduced by predetermining decision criteria, subprocess relationships, and related actions — and embodying those predeterminations in machines. Automation, or automatic control, includes the use of various control systems for operating equipment such as machinery, processes in factories, boilers, and heat-treating ovens, switching on telephone networks, steering, and stabilization of ships, aircraft, and other applications and vehicles with reduced human intervention. Automation covers applications ranging from a household thermostat controlling a boiler, to a large industrial control system with tens of thousands of input measurements and output control signals. In control complexity, it can range from simple on-off control to multi-variable high-level algorithms.
    • Batch Flow ControlBatch Flow Control is the control of a flow based on the volume that is set to stop a flow when the volume setting has been reached. The Batch Controller can be used using a flow meter that incorporates a contact head register (pulse switch). The main purpose of this batching system is to obtain an accurate volume and is used mostly in the food industry, cement industry, beverage industry, and its direction is the filling system. The basic principle of batch control is to control a valve or pump to start / turn on and close / stop the flow when the volume of flow has been reached. So when we set a batch control at a volume of 500 liters, the flow will be closed if the volume read on the flow meter shows the number 500 l and the flow will return to flow when we press the start button as is widely used in gas stations. The batching system is a batching system that uses a control device, a volume sensor and a shutoff or stopper in the form of a pump or valve.

It implies a small change of a configuration serving an ideally large engineering benefit, like drag reduction, lift increase, mixing enhancement or noise reduction. This change may be accomplished by passive or active devices. Passive devices, like turbulators or roughness elements, are steady and require no energy by definition. Active control requires actuators that may be driven in a time-dependent manner and require energy. Examples are valves and plasma actuators. The actuation command may be pre-determined (open-loop control) or be dependent on sensors monitoring the flow state (closed-loop control).

Switches are made in many different configurations; they may have multiple sets of contacts controlled by the same knob or actuator, and the contacts may operate simultaneously, sequentially, or alternately. A switch may be operated manually, for example, a light or a keyboard button, or may function as a sensing element to sense the position of a machine part, liquid level, pressure, or temperature, such as a thermostat.
