Extended Reach Oil Skimming Systems
One challenge our customers face is how to locate the oil skimmer over the water, when it is impossible or undesirable to locate the system near the water’s edge. Previously, a costly walkway or platform was required; however, this issue was eliminated with Extended Reach Oil Removal Systems from Oil Skimmers, Inc.
With Extended Reach Systems, the oil skimmer is mounted at the appropriate height to allow recovered oil to gravity drain to a collection vessel. These systems place the skimmer out, over the water, and the skimmer can be swung back to shore for safe, convenient servicing or maintenance.
Mobile Oil Skimming Systems

For 50 years, our oil skimmers and skimming systems, featuring the free-floating oil collection tube have been considered the most efficient, trouble-free oil removal solutions for a wide variety of industries. In some applications, it is beneficial to our customers to be able to move the oil skimmer from one location to another.
These systems are used on applications where:
- There is a need to skim oil or grease from more than one sump or pit, and the required frequency or amount of oil to remove does not justify the purchase of multiple units
- It is necessary to be able to move the skimming system away from the skimming area to allow access for cleaning, service, or other equipment.
Oil Skimmer Hanging Mount
Hanging Mount Oil Removal System
For areas where an overhead structure is present, there is the option to mount the Model 6V by hanging it from its handles. It can be mounted at any height to allow gravity discharge. A “hanging kit” is used to channel the oil in any direction for easy collection.
Oil Water Separators
For more than 50 years, Oil Skimmers, Inc. has specialized in designing and manufacturing equipment that removes oil from water. Our oil skimmers and oil removal systems can be found in over 38,000 applications, in all industries around the world.

We’ve put our decades of application knowledge into the design and development of a line of oil water separators that address the specific inefficiencies found in traditional separators and built them to excel where other separators can fall short. In any application, small or large, The Oil Removal Solution Experts™ at Oil Skimmers, Inc. can provide the right solution to efficiently and effectively separate and remove oil from water.
SAS® Tank Oil Water Separator with Active Oil Removal™
In many industrial settings, oil and water meet and flow together. Before re-using, treating, or discharging the water, the oil should be separated and removed. When oily wastewater, process water, wash water, or rain run-off water does not have sufficient time or space for the oil and water to separate naturally, a SAS® Tank can answer the challenge.
The SAS® (Separate And Skim) Tank from Oil Skimmers Inc. is a complete oil separation and removal solution for industrial process water and wastewater applications. The SAS® Tank provides the opportunity (space and time) to efficiently separate and remove the oil. The oil-free water continues on its journey to be treated, reused or discharged.
The SAS® Tank is equipped with a Brill® tube type oil skimmer for Active Oil Removal™ that continuously removes the separated oil. A decanter returns any water or coolant collected by the skimmer back to the application. The decanting process ensures the least possible percentage of water in the recovered oil. SAS® Tanks are designed and engineered for each application, taking into consideration the flow rate, temperature of the oil/water, type of oil to be removed, and available floor space, among other variables.
CoolSkim® Tramp Oil Water Separator
Oil contamination issues often result in downtime, maintenance, bacteria growth, and costly replacement of coolants and wash water. In certain applications, proper removal of tramp oil can prove difficult due to limited access to the sump. For applications like these, where limited space or access doesn’t allow for the installation of a Brill® tube-type oil skimmer, Oil Skimmers, Inc. has developed the CoolSkim®.
The CoolSkim uses a floating weir skimmer with a pump to bring a continual flow of liquid from the sump to the separator. The solution flows through a coalescing media pack to facilitate oil separation and oil rises to the surface, forming two distinct layers. The oil flows down an adjustable weir funnel and drains to a collection vessel. Clean coolant is returned to the coolant system.
Skim 1st Tank Oil Water Separator
An Oil Water Separator that Removes Oil from Wastewater Prior to Additional Treatment or Discharge, Many industrial and commercial operations that generate wastewater face three key challenges:
- Allow oil and water the proper time to separate in order to recover the oil
- Determine most efficient method to remove oil from the surface of wastewater prior to further treatment or discharge
- Address varying flow rates of wastewater for maximum efficiency of treatment or ultrafiltration
Oil/water separation, oil skimming, and wastewater flow regulation issues seem to call for different, independent solutions. But there is an all-in-one solution – the Skim 1st Tank.
Oil/Water Separator Decanting System
To maximize waste oil recovery, decanters are used in combination with oil skimmers. The decanter ensures the least possible percentage of water in the recovered oil by further separating oil and water, and returning the water to the skimming area.
The decanter is part of all Oil Skimmers, Inc. Oil Removal Systems to ensure efficient oil recovery when:
- The skimmed oil is frothy, such as that found in machine tool coolant, cold rolling mill coolant, or parts washing solutions The decanter gives any water collected a chance to further separate from the removed oil and be returned to the solution reservoir. This helps to conserve solution loss, decreasing the need for new solution purchases.
- The oil skimmer operates continuously, even when oil is no longer present When oil does not enter the skimming area for long periods of time, but the skimmer operates continually to safeguard against excessive discharge, the decanter will prevent an accumulation of water in your oil collection tank.
- Oily waste disposal costs and/or oil reclamation costs need to be controlled The decanter minimizes the quantity of water or solution accumulation in waste storage containers, thereby controlling costs.
The operating principle of the decanter uses the difference between the specific gravity of oil and water. The lighter oil will separate and float higher than the water. A specially engineered manifold incorporates an oil weir that allows the oil to overflow at this higher level while the water is continually discharged at a lower level for continuous, unattended decanting.
A sludge tray is provided to catch heavy solids. For easy clean-out, a 2-inch coupling is provided at the bottom of the tank, to which a valve can be attached. To assist in separation, an optional heat rod is available in either 120V or 240V.
