Multi-point Capabilitity For Large Duct, Pipe, And Stack Gas Measurements

Our Model # 62-9MP Insertion Probe is the perfect solution for large ducts, pipes, or stacks where air or gas measurement is required. The Thermal Instrument multi-point probe allows for up (6) flow measurement locations across a pipe, duct, or stack utilizing our thermal mass technology. The flow is measured at different points across the insertion probe and then that flow information is averaged out and sent as one average flow to the electronic transmitter.

With built in alarm capability your operator will even know when an issue has occurred and the flow has been disrupted or altered in any way. This is also a great instrument when your application has non-laminar flow, or turbulent flow, in large ducts, pipes, or stacks. With the ability to take multiple flow measurement points, our flow meter can take into effect all the different flow profiles and then transmit that data so that it can be used to effectively manage a process. We still encourage a flow profile analysis be performed in order to ensure that the best locations are chosen for flow measurement.

Inline Thermal Mass Flow Meters

Thermal Instrument was a pioneer of in-line flow meters. The unique design means the flow and temperature sensor are protected from passing fluids at all times. Our exclusive in-line gasflow meters and in-line liquidflow meters provide excellent accuracy and repeatability our clients can count on. The 600-9 offers numerous process connections to allow for quick installation and meet demanding flow applications.

What Else You Should Know:

Our mass flow sensors come with redundant Flow and Temperature RTD sensors that will provide a long life unit that will maximize the return on investment. Always know the status of your flow meters. The 600-9 flow sensor provides critical flow and temperature information via a 4-20mA output connection between our transmitter and the customer device.

Our Model# 600-9 in-line flow meter has an unobstructed flow path that can be scaled to meet line sizes as small as ¼” and as large as 12”. This exclusive feature is incredibly beneficial to operators. It offers a negligible pressure drop in operations where any pressure loss could be detrimental. We provide standard face to face dimensions, but this item can be easily adapted to fit into custom spaces in your process piping.

We’re Here To Serve You:

Our Model # 600-9 can be customized to fit your needs. If your current in-line flow application is corrosive or needs more rigid construction-grade materials, Thermal Instrument can accommodate. We have built our flow sensors using strong, exotic metals, including Hastelloy-C, Tantalum, Titanium, Monel, and more.

At Thermal Instrument, we can also provide flange connections in multiple sizes and pressure ratings, NPT in several sizes, and tube ends that can easily adapt to a variety of 3rd party connections. We can also add a protective coating to the flow sensor wetted surfaces in units down to ½” in size. These protective coatings offer additional corrosive protection, improve non-stick or release properties, and provide peace of mind in harsh applications.

Sanitary Inline Thermal Mass Flow Meter

At Thermal Instrument, we pride ourselves on offering various flow meters to suit our client’s needs. Our Model# 600-9 SAN flow sensor provides all of the same volumetric flow rates to mass flow rate benefits that our # 600-9 has. The difference is this model may be placed into sanitary process conditions.

What Is It Made From?

We use a standard 316L SS with a minimum of 15 Ra flow wetted surface finish to ensure longevity and durability. We offer two standard process connections: tri-clamp and tube end. Each unit has standard redundant Flow and Temperature RTD sensors. Each unit can be delivered to supply flow information or flow and temperature information on independent 4-20 mA outputs.

We specialize in fuel flow meters and water flow meters. These flow sensors have been calibrated for various liquid and gas applications, including food, beverage, and pharmaceutical clients.

Our team at Thermal Instrument have calibrated these sensors to include air, carbon dioxide, DI water, food additives, dairy products, and more.

Ultra High Pure Inline Thermal Mass Flow Meter

Our gas meters help your business function. The 600-9UHP flow sensor is crafted with top-grade materials to meet the rigorous requirements associated with clean gas flow measurement. The 600-9UHP flow sensors feature redundant flow and temperature sensors to ensure a long lifespan and excellent return on your investment. The flow sensor can provide Flow measurement and Temperature measurement on independent 4-20mA outputs.

What Is It Made From?

The standard material of construction is 316L SS. All internal flow wetted surface finishes are 15Ra or better. It’s important to us that we provide solution-focused products, no matter what our clients need. At Thermal Instruments, we can manufacture various OD sizes to mate up to your process tubing. This unobstructed flow path makes cleaning during your next “CIP” process simple.

These units can also be fitted with Tube Ends for easy weld in place or VCR connections, as requested. All you have to do is let us know how we can help. We’re simplifying liquid flow metering and thermal mass flow metering.

Flow Transmitters – Microprocessor Electronic Transmitter

A uniquely designed microprocessor controlled electronic transmitter provides integral local control and display in an explosion proof housing for our mass flow meters.  Optional remote mounting of the electronic transmitter up to a distance of 2000 ft. from the mass flow meter sensor provides additional versatility depending on the application.

Flow signal linearity and temperature effects, determined at calibration, are corrected by the microprocessor using operating parameter data stored in the EEPROM memory.

Our model 9500P microprocessor controlled electronic transmitter provides integral local control and programming capabilities allowing for on-site modifications to many flow factors. Our newly integrated menu system is available as an opton on our Model 9500P. This provides greater flexibility to the end user by allowing for changes to the instrument as flow parameters and applications change. The integral Menu System will allow for the modification to the following:

  • Filter Factor
  • Zero Cutoff %
  • Flow Factor or “K”
  • Full scale Flow Range
  • Pipe ID Size Changes
  • Modbus ID Values
  • Enhanced Troubleshooting Capabilities

Flow Transmitters – Multi-function Flow Computer

The Thermal Instrument 9200B special purpose flow computer accepts analog input from the thermal mass flow meter and provides linearization of the sensor and scaling to the Flow Rate and Total indicators. A variety of Pulse Outputs, Analog Outputs, Control Inputs, Relay Alarms and RS-232 Outputs are provided standard. RS-485 Modbus RTU is also an ordering option.

Flow Transmitters – Analog/Digital Signal Conductor

Takes the non-linear analog flow signal from one of our probe or in-line mass flow meter transducers and converts it to a linear output signal. Unique 12 bit data system assures signal smoothness and optimum accuracy. In order to maximize efficiency and minimize heat generation, switching supplies are used. Options available include: local display of Flow, 8 digit Totalization and HI/LO alarm set points.

Flow Switch – FS

The durability, accuracy, versatility, and ease of use of this mass flow switch make it the economical choice for your process flow application. The electronics are built into an cast aluminum condulet which can be mounted as an integral part on the Model 62-9 and 600-9. Allowing a plant technician to accurately field set the trip point by adjusting the potentiometer. Using a voltmeter, the technician can then compare trip point voltage with the calibration voltages given on calibration chart provided with each meter. Trip high/trip low function can be field-enabled with a simple jumper change.

Flow Switch – FS16

Increased features, performance, and versatility are available in the FS16 Flow Switch. The FS16 provides visibility to the flow rate while providing alarm set points to help monitor your critical processes. Additionally, the FS16 can be configured to deliver fluid temperature across a 4-20 mA output. As usual, any instrument ordered from Thermal Instrument Company is designed to perform in industrial applications. We build all of our flow elements out of 316SS, but offer other exotic materials as necessary dependent upon application need. Hastelloy, Tantalum, Monel, and others have been used in the harshest of flow applications.

Our circuitry is housed in a cast aluminum enclosure that allows the end user to modify set points as necessary, quickly and easily. The instrument can be set up to monitor liquid or gas applications in line sizes as small as 1/4? OD to large duct or pipe lines.
