About APG
APG’s story begins with a Utah State University graduate using his engineering skills to make a difference in the lives of farmers. Cordell Lundahl designed an ultrasonic sensor and control system that could guide farm machinery around the uncut edge of a field. A farmer, riding in a second machine, could effectively make two cuts with one pass leaving more time for all the other unending farm chores.
Fast-forward 40 years and APG now offers a full line of level sensors and switches, pressure transducers, and data management tools to help everyone from farmers to chemists, and waste managers to food and beverage producers control their processes and inventories.
The three different level switches work in three different ways:
NLS Pneumatic Level Switch
Our NLS pneumatic level switch uses a ½ in. pipe to capture a column of trapped air. As the liquid level rises, it traps the air in the pipe attached to the bottom of the sensor. As the level rises a bit further, it compresses the air inside the pipe enough to trigger a mechanical switch in the housing. You can choose how long your pipe will be to adjust the switch point level.
APG NLS Series pneumatic liquid level switch is designed for use in high viscosity liquids. It is modified to overcome the high viscosity by making the tip of the detecting pipe larger than usual.
The NLS is the ideal sensor for applications where electrical power is not available or hazardous conditions exist. Using a diaphragm, the switch is actuated by compression of a captive air column in the detecting pipe beneath the diaphragm. Unique level switch for viscous materials. Viscous and sticky liquids can stop a float switch in its tracks. The NLS is the answer.
PWS Paddle Wheel Switch
Paddlewheel switches are a common measurement tool in the solids processing/handling industry. It uses a paddle wheel that spins freely until the solid material fills up enough to stop it. When the wheel stops spinning, the level switch is triggered. Our PWS offers 4 different torque settings to get the sensitivity just right.
APG PWS Series Mini Level paddle wheel Switch level sensor is ideal for grain processing machines, plastic molding or injection machines. The PWS is compact and designed to provide reliable service. The paddle wheel sensor offers four different torque settings for just the right sensitivity. Compact paddle wheel for tight spaces.
Designed for small bins and hoppers, the PWS has a rugged build for tight spaces. The PWS rotating padding wheel level switch is appropriate for small bins and hoppers with a compact size that fits in tight corners.
VBL Vibrating Level Switch
Similar to the paddlewheel. The vibrating level switch is waiting for the solid material to fill up and stop it. But instead of spinning a wheel, it vibrates a rod. And it also includes a few different sensitivity settings to work with a greater variety of materials.
The VBL vibrating level sensor works well with solids of many types in medium and large sized hoppers. The VBL allows you to adjust the sensitivity setting to accurately detect the presence of different types of solids. Field adjustable sensitivity. With several mounting options and field adjustable sensitivity settings, the VBL is perfect for a variety of solid level detection applications.
The VBL vibrating level switch works well with solids of many types and for silos and bins or many shapes and sizes. The VBL vibrating level sensor allows you to adjust the sensitivity setting to accurately detect the presence of different types of solids. Sensitivity can be set on a dial from Low (large particles) to High (small particles).
