WYATT Engineering – Intelligent Flow Measurement

Description

Wyatt Engineering, LLC began the final stage of acquiring the assets of the venturi, flow tube, and differential pressure producer products from Badger Meter, Inc. Badger Meter had initiated contact with David Wyatt of Wyatt Engineering & Design, Inc., an established flow measurement and flow control consulting firm.

About WYATT Engineering

Given Mr. Wyatt’s depth of knowledge and reputation in the field of flow measurement, as well as his contributions to and standing within ASME, ISO, and ISA, the flow measurement community has shown its confidence that Wyatt Engineering continues with the quality support, manufacturing, and R & D work that former users of Badger flow meters deserve.

Since the purchase, Wyatt Engineering has experienced tremendous growth over the years. Its headquarters is currently located in Lincoln, Rhode Island and it’s production facility is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Wyatt provides its products and services through its representative network to North and South America, Europe, and Asia.

Wyatt Engineering has delivered flow solutions and engineering services for hundreds of applications and users. Wyatt regularly services clients and customers in the following markets: municipal water and wastewater, industrial, pharmaceutical, military, petrochemical, and energy (refineries, gas and oil transmission, and power plants). If one considers the breadth of all the projects on which Wyatt products have been used, it is obvious that Wyatt Engineering brings a depth of understanding to the flow measurement market that is unparalleled.

The Products of WYATT Engineering

Why should you consider a Venturi flow tube for your flow project?

  • Venturis have a long history as a dependable device for flow measurement. Utilizing basic physical relationships between velocities and pressures in pipes, venturis provide a stable, highly repeatable differential pressure signal that can be tailored to any application.
  • The basic performance of venturi meters is defined by their geometry but, as with any technology, refinements in the design of venturis and manipulation of the basic principles of differential pressure production have lead to advancements and improvements to the performance, especially in the case of differential pressure signal versus loss ratios, and accuracy.
  • While the traditional ASME standard venturis are perfectly serviceable devices, even 130 years after their initial introduction, proprietary designs such as the Wyatt LVM and PMT provide substantially improved performance characteristics.

Venturi Flow Tubes

Wyatt Engineering’s venturi flow tubes are differential-producing flow elements that accurately and repeatably measure the flow of liquids or gases in closed, full-pipe conditions.  Each venturi is designed to meet the client’s specific application requirements.

  • Reliable Long-Term Operation
  • High Accuracy Over Entire Flow Range
  • Energy Efficient, Low Permanent Pressure Loss
  • Different Options for a Variety of Applications

Flow Nozzle

Wyatt’s Flow Nozzles are often used in flow measurement due to their reliable performance and tolerance to extreme process and environmental conditions. They offer advantages over orifice plates in that they require less upstream piping and incur lower permanent pressure loss. Accuracy can be sustained indefinitely since there are no sharp edges to wear.

  • Long Term Reliability
  • Low Installation Cost
  • Conforms to Industry Standards
  • Flexible Designs for Different Applications
  • Available as Fully Assembled Metering Run

Orifice Plates

Wyatt’s Orifice Plates are used for flow measurement or pressure reduction due to their simplicity, ease of installation, tolerance to extreme process conditions, and predictable and reliable performance. Orifice plates are the most common method of differential pressure and are used in various industries, particularly in the hydrocarbon market.

  • Long Term Reliability
  • Low Installation Cost
  • Conform to Industry Standards
  • Flexible Designs for Different Applications
  • Available as Fully Assembled Metering Run

Accessories

Wyatt Engineering offers an array of accessories to complement our primary flow elements for a more complete flow and control solution.  These options include:

  • Secondary Piping  An engineered pipe assembly that connects the venturi flowmeter to the D/P transmitter(s).  The assembly is designed to ensure proper alignment and ease of installation.
  • Pressure Transmitters  Wyatt can supply virtually any brand of transmitter to be used in conjunction with our primary flow elements.  All are fully compatible with our venturi, nozzle and plate designs.  Additionally, we can supply the 3-valve manifold that is required to mount the transmitter and provides isolation for both the high and low-pressure ports.
  • Orifice Flange Sets  We can supply flanges that include pressure taps for use with our orifice plates.  This ensures that all metering components are sized correctly and fully compatible.
  • Flow Straighteners  For applications with limited available straightrun, Wyatt can design a flow “conditioner” to help improve the profile shape just upstream from the point of measurement.  Depending on the line size, the flow straightener is typically installed in a prefabricated meter assembly.  These include straightening vanes, tube bundles and sector plates.
  • Condensate Pots  Some steam and vapor applications require the use a small vessel, called a condensate (or seal) pot, to help prevent condensation or foreign material from reaching the D/P transmitter and causing damage.  They are also used to protect the transmitter from a high temperature process line.  Wyatt can provide seal pots with each primary flow element, if needed.

Services Capabilities of WYATT Engineering

Wyatt regularly services clients and customers in the following markets: municipal water and wastewater, industrial, pharmaceutical, military, petrochemical, and energy (refineries, gas and oil transmission, and power plants). If one considers the breadth of all the projects on which Wyatt products have been used, it is obvious that Wyatt Engineering brings a depth of understanding to the flow measurement market that is unparalleled. We are committed to providing the quality support, manufacturing, research, and development necessary to help you sustain your business.

Flow Measurement

Wyatt’s differential producing products can measure any type of fluid in a closed pipe.  Our products are designed to meet the client’s precise process conditions and provide long term reliability with no moving parts and nothing to wear away or drift over time.  Whether it is a venturi flow tube or orifice plate, Wyatt will offer the best combination of performance and efficiency.

Pressure Management

If you need to control the fluid by reducing the process pressure, Wyatt has a solution!  Our orifice plates and restriction runs allow plant engineers to achieve the proper pressure drop at an economical price.

Support

Wyatt’s engineering staff is committed to providing the best service and support to our clients.  We pride ourselves on standing behind our technology and providing guidance and support over the life of each product.  If process conditions change, or your flowmeter needs re-calibration, we are here to assist you.
